Loop Flims–Laax–Falera

Distance: 28 km
Estimated Time: 2:30 h
Elevation Gain: 500 m

This picturesque loop through Flims, Laax, and Falera offers breathtaking Alpine views and is perfect for beginners or as a relaxed morning or evening ride for more experienced gravel riders—especially magical when the lakes fall silent.

Starting at the Flims base station, the route follows the Flem stream through the serene Flims forest to the Il Spir viewing platform. From here, you’ll enjoy one of the most iconic views in Switzerland: the dramatic Rhine Gorge, or “Swiss Grand Canyon,” formed by a massive rockslide over 9,000 years ago.

A gentle forest climb brings you to the stunning Caumasee, one of Switzerland’s most beautiful Alpine lakes. It’s especially peaceful in spring—ideal for a quiet break by the water.

The route continues uphill through Laax Murschetg, where you can pause before the scenic climb to Falera. This stretch rewards you with wide mountain views over the Surselva region. In Falera, the tranquil Parc la Mutta is perfect for a picnic or BBQ, with a grill area offering panoramic views of the Signina mountain group. Culture fans can explore the area’s ancient settlement history and the mysterious “Laughing Megalith.”

The descent back to Laax is smooth and scenic. Stop at Ustria Lags restaurant for a final rest before heading back to Flims.

Gravel Tip: On sunny days, bring swimwear—there are many fountains and springs along the route for a refreshing splash of crystal-clear mountain water!
